Historic Rates Audit

Forensic Rates Audit & Historic Rates Audit

FRA & HRA unearth the errors behind a complicated and challenging system.

Our team of auditors review both historic and current accounts identifying the errors and anomalies on both domestic and non-domestic rates accounts.
We have designed and created inhouse software which, when combined with our expertise and knowledge, gives our clients a comprehensive review of their property and liabilities and assists in negotiating on our clients’ behalf around a complex and clunky system.
FRA retrospectively reviews the process carried out by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) the Billing Authority (BA). Our bespoke software allows us to identify the opportunities to save and recover monies by reviewing an array of possibilities;

  • Rateable Occupation Dates
  • Account Closures
  • Application of legislative reliefs
  • Incorrectly applied Certification
  • Rating List Anomalies
  • BA payment allocations
  • Billing errors

Keeping the process simple.

This is a two-stage review process, looking at both the company and the property.
We first get a full understanding of the client entity, looking at the name in which the properties are held by reviewing any mergers, acquisitions and name changes and reviewing all subsidiary to the main client company.
We then retrospectively examine the payment history for each of our client’s properties, fully reviewing the processes that have been undertaken by both the VOA and the BA – making sure not only that they are  procedurally correct but also that they have been been implemented correctly.
